This service works by appointment for consultation.
We conduct all our consultations at your homeplace, according to our concept of Home Care service. We cover mainly the entire Lisbon district, but we are available for appointments in any other area of Portugal.
A Home Care consultation allows less stressful situations to your pet, as we make all our consultation procedures at his familiar place. It also avoids the inconvenience of travel, especially in animals with mobility issues.
The first consultation takes about one hour minimum and must be conducted in a calm and quiet place. It is based on this consultation that the integrated diagnosis of the patient is made and the therapeutic protocol is designed for the treatment approach of the actual disease.
For the first consultation is very important that you have with you the complete story, chronologically dated whenever possible, of your pet's life journey. It is important that you mention everything you know about the clinical history of your animal (vaccination and deworming, past and present illnesses, surgeries ,...), and in particular the history of the present disease.
It is also important for us to know which drugs were prescribed, the diagnostic tests carried out (eg blood tests, x-rays, etc.) and their medical reports if available, both for present and past diseases.
It is also important to mention the situations of internment in veterinary hospitals and clinics. The registration of the animal living habits and family diseases and history, are also important.
By gathering and provide this data accurately you help us to build up the most appropriate solution and effective therapy for your animal.
BUILD UP OF A THERAPEUTIC SOLUTION
The therapeutic protocol - treatment - for each clinical case is based on the first consultation conducted for the animal.
A protocol is composed by one or more of the therapeutic modalities our service provides, that you can consult under Treatment Modalities.
The number of therapeutic sessions (acupuncture and / or homeopathy) of a protocol can vary from 1 to 12, for the majority of cases, and according to the clinical situation addressed.
Where there is a need, after the end of treatment, we drawn up a strategy for monitoring the clinical condition of the animal.
TREATMENT SESSIONS
Treatment sessions are previously scheduled.
The schedule is set according to the availability of the veterinary surgeon and owner of the animal.
It is requested the presence of the owner during the sessions, whenever possible, because this is important in the course of them.
The assessment of the response to the treatment is carried out at the beginning of each session.
This is donne by examining the animal and by the questions about the observations recorded by the owner between treatments.
These comments are useful in evaluating the progression of therapeutic results, so it is important that the owner reports the progress noted in his pet.
Often we get an improvement in the condition of the animal immediately after the first session.
However, depending on the responsiveness of the animal itself and the severity of the disease in question, the most expected results may become evident only a few days after the beginning of treatment.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - BLOOD TESTS - X RAY
This service makes the collection of samples at your home for the most of the diagnostic tests needed (eg collection of blood).
For other examinations that require the presence of specific diagnostic equipment as radiology, ultrasound, CTScan or MRI we give you our suggestion where to go.
OTHER PROCEDURES
This service provides other conventional veterinary procedures such as micro-chip implantation for animal identification purposes, external and internal dewormingl, among others.
