Licensed veterinarian Dr. Dinora Xavier is responsible for all the clinical aspects of this service, regarding diagnosis and treatment with an holistic approach. Biologist Nuno Vieira is responsible for all aspects regarding the site´s web-design and construction, service image and logistics and also for the production of all photographic material on the cases.
Dra.Xavier is a portuguese licenced veterinarian and got her degree at Lisbon’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Afterwords she concluded the one year European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) Internship in Small Animal Surgery at the Lüdwing-Maximilians-Universität Veterinary Hospital in Munich, Germany.
Her specialized formation in holistic medicine includes the TCM graduation (Portugal) and the Biologic and Homotoxicologic certification (Germany). She finds herself at the moment attending an international certification in veterinary acupuncture.
She attended several veterinary medicine and holistic veterinary medicine formation events in Portugal and abroad (Spain, England, Germany); performed lectures in congresses and courses regarding veterinary acupuncture in Portugal and has published a case report regarding biological veterinary medicine in an International Journal.
Dra. Xavier professional memberships include the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), having been the first portuguese veterinarian to be present at the IVAS International Congress (33rd) held in Niedernhausen, Germany, in August 2007.
Besides her practice of veterinary medicine and holistic veterinary therapies in a clinical perspective, her interests go further in the field of History and Philosophy of Science, having started to attend a Master of Science (MS) at Lisbon's University and being an integrated member of the Centre of Philosophy of Science at Lisbon's University. Her major thematics on Philosophy of Science are animal mind philosophy, animal rights/ethics and evidence based medicine.
Nuno Vieira got his degree in Biology and Geology at the Sciences Faculty of Lisbon University and a Post-Graduate (PG) study in Communication and Information Technologies (CIT) at the Lisbon’s Instituto Superior de Informática e Gestão (ISIG).
Parallel to other professional activities that he performs related to biology teaching, he integrates part or the service staff.
He is responsible for the coordination of the service image and logistic events and activities, as well as for the web-design and construction of the service webpage.
As a part of his side activities, he develops his interest in photography, being the author of all the photographic material of this service, developed and created during the case follow-ups and treatments. Simultaneously he cooperates in the therapeutic approach.
Together, they have decided to embrace this pioneer home care veterinary service project in Portugal as a way to introduce this approach in veterinary medicine in Portugal.
